Point Cloud Classification in Cameroon

Point cloud classification sorts the millions of measured points from a LiDAR or photogrammetry survey into meaningful categories — ground, vegetation, buildings, power lines and more. MKA Mesh Systems delivers clean, classified point clouds across Cameroon and Africa that are ready for engineering analysis and modelling.

01What is a point cloud?

A point cloud is a dense set of 3D points, each with a coordinate (and often colour), that together describe the surface of a site or object. Raw point clouds contain everything the sensor saw — to be useful they must be cleaned and classified.

02What is point cloud classification?

Classification assigns each point to a category so you can isolate exactly what you need: bare-earth ground for terrain models, vegetation for forestry, buildings for city models, or power lines for corridor analysis. Accurate classification is what turns raw data into reliable deliverables.

03How MKA Mesh Systems delivers

  • Noise removal — outliers and errors filtered out.
  • Automated + manual classification — ground, low/medium/high vegetation, buildings, water, power lines and more.
  • Ground extraction — accurate bare-earth surfaces for DTMs.
  • QA — checked and corrected by experienced technicians.

04Deliverables

  • Classified point clouds (LAS/LAZ) by standard class codes
  • Bare-earth DTM and DSM
  • Building footprints and 3D models
  • Vegetation and canopy layers
  • Utility/power-line vectors

05Applications & industries

Engineering design, forestry and agriculture, city and corridor modelling, flood and terrain analysis, mining, and any project that starts from LiDAR or photogrammetry data — including data you already have but need processed.

06Frequently asked questions

Can you process point clouds we already captured? Yes — send us your raw LiDAR or photogrammetry data and we’ll classify and deliver finished products.

Which classes can you provide? Standard ASPRS classes (ground, vegetation, building, water, low point, power line) and custom classes on request.

What software do you use? Industry tools including Global Mapper, and specialist classification software, with manual QA.
