Bathymetric Survey in Cameroon
A bathymetric survey measures the depth and shape of the bottom of rivers, lakes, dams, ports and reservoirs. MKA Mesh Systems delivers accurate underwater terrain data across Cameroon and Africa to support dredging, water-capacity studies, bridge and port design, and environmental monitoring.
01What is a bathymetric survey?
Bathymetry is the study of underwater depth. Using echo-sounding and GNSS positioning, we record the elevation of the bed beneath the water surface and build a detailed model of the submerged terrain — the underwater equivalent of a topographic survey.
02How MKA Mesh Systems delivers
- Single/multi-beam echo sounders mounted on survey vessels or remote boats.
- GNSS positioning (RTK) for accurate horizontal and vertical referencing.
- Processing into depth models, contours and volumes.
- Integration with drone topographic data for seamless above- and below-water models.
03Deliverables
- Depth (bathymetric) contour maps
- Bed surface models (DTM) and cross-sections
- Water-body volume and capacity calculations
- Sediment / siltation change analysis
- CAD/GIS-ready outputs and reports
04Applications & industries
Dam and reservoir capacity, dredging and sediment management, port and harbour design, bridge and pipeline crossings, flood and river studies, and environmental monitoring.
05Frequently asked questions
Why measure reservoir bathymetry? Siltation reduces storage over time. Periodic bathymetric surveys quantify lost capacity and guide dredging and water management.
Can you combine bathymetry with a land survey? Yes — we merge underwater and above-water data into one continuous terrain model.
What accuracy do you achieve? Accuracy depends on equipment and conditions; we specify the expected accuracy for each project up front.
